3321 M&W Ch.1 & AP

Ch. 1 was very informative. The part that I liked best was the Encouraging Experimentation. Reading is the most love subjest in elementary. You have to make the subject fun and exciting. I agree with what the book is saying on this with, “…all learners need to try out ideas, make mistakes, and take risks in order to grow with their reading”. Now if every teacher believed in this theory you would see more kids at a young age be great readers. You have to practice winning. You can’t win without putting in the work. That’s what I get out of this section. I also love what Judy Smith did with her Third grade class. You have to make your class appealing to your students, not to your taste. The classroom was made by the students for the students.

In my Author profile I have chosen Bill Martin Jr. I love reading his books. I just have two of them. HAHA. And out of the ZILLION books my wife likes to buy my daughter and the numerous book clubs my daughter is in, She never received the two books I have from Bill Martin Jr. Leave it to our day care sending home the book order catalog. So that’s how we bought Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do you See? Both books are very different and have very unique ways of catching the readers and the listener’s attention. I personally love Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do you See? Because, I have seen the book be very effective for my 20 month old daughter. She loves the pictures and the objects that are linked with the colors. She knows every animal in the book. No matter where we go she is likely to see an animal from the book. I had no idea Michelle Obama read this book to a bunch of third graders from Ferebee Hope Elementary in Southeast Washington, DC. Bill Martin is very popular so it was easy finding information on him. It’s going to be fun researching him and seeing what other great books he wrote.

  1. Good job on this chapter summary and I love what you had to say about Bill Martin Jr. and the way that you associated it with your young daughter. Keep up the great work!
